Release of the iMeter
After the conference aimed at deciding the future of the planet, it is time for governments to rethink their approach to the environmental protection problem so that they meet the new challenges posed by climate change.
It is with this backdrop that ISA will launch the iMeter, next Friday, December 18 at 18h30, at the company’s headquarters (Rua D. Manuel I, n º 92, Coimbra, Portugal). Everyone is invited to attend this ceremony which promises to close the Summit in Copenhagen with a presentation of a technological solution that addresses the latest challenges of sustainability.
Proven Experience
ISA anticipated the Climate Change Copenhagen World Summit three years ago. Since 2006 ISA’s green tech solutions have saved 63.2 tons of CO2 emissions for Oil & Gas companies.
Now that everybody is aware of climate change we are ready to help you save energy in your home and office!
In Copenhagen ISA won the prize at the European Utility Awards 2006, the most important international metering conference, Metering Europe, where we presented for the first time the iMeter solution to read electricity, gas and water consumption in real time.
Since then Oil & Gas companies all over the world have continued using our monitoring solution for tanks and meters which helped them reduce logistic costs and save hundreds of tons of CO2 emissions.
Three years of further R&D investment and field experience acquired from 50,000 installed units, allowed ISA to launch, during the Climate Change Copenhagen World Summit, an energy saving kit for the SOHO market.
What is the iMeter?
The
iMeter Home is a DIY kit, very easy to install and use, consisting of electricity, gas and water sensors, a real time display and an Energy Hub that connects to the internet through the standard router existent in the house. For those who still don't have an internet connection at home, the iMeter will be supplied with 3G connectivity.
Besides the real time display energy data will be available on TV, on your laptop and through a web portal, EnerBook, where energy saving advice will be available as well as experiences of a community of users that can be found in connection with social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. All these components will lead families to change their consumer behaviour, reducing their bills by 15-20%.
It is important to add that the iMeter, although it is focused on Energy savings, is a versatile home gateway that can be used for security purposes, registering for instance, every time a door is opened, as well as for healthcare purposes, detecting gas and water leaks, abnormal behaviours or falls and panic situations, contributing in this way to ambient assisted living of elderly people at home. In fact, from analyzing overall electricity consumption (gas and water can also be measured) it is possible to draw a consumption profile that we call “Home Electrocardiogram." Abnormalities in electrocardiogram show us changes in behaviour that may be of concern and on which we can act immediately.
The iMeter will also
be installed in schools through the program EnerEscolas, which optimize energy resources and reduce CO2 emissions in schools promoting efficient practices within the school community. This solution aims to integrate green technology with educational content by creating a network that allows benchmarking between schools. The change of behaviour in schools will replicate the changes at home for students and teachers reflected on their actual contribution to environmental sustainability of society.
ISA’s CEO, José Basílio Simões, said “We are very proud of this achievement that is being received by the market with great acceptance. This gives us a justified expectation of effectively contributing to realization of the energy efficiency goals accorded by all the countries in Copenhagen. Our own goal for the iMeter Kit is to contribute to the reduction of at least 1.6 million tons of CO2 emissions until 2015 avoiding severe climate changes that could otherwise lead to a very tough heritage for our sons and grandsons”
The new solution is already installed more than 100 Portuguese homes and will be commercially available during the first quarter of 2010. To meet the high demand of the solution and its EnerBook portal, ISA’s website (www.isasensing.com) offers the possibility of a pre-registration that can also be carried out during today's launch.
We’re counting on you!
